Is all your jewellery made from recycled pieces?
Wherever possible we use vintage components, which are generally 50 - 100 years old, However on occasions we use new beadcaps, which are getting harder to find in vintage form. Our findings ( the small components that link the jewellery together) are always new and are either sterling silver or goldfill (see description below)
What is goldfill ?
Often referred to as "vermail" or "rolled gold", goldfill is a gold alloy plate composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass, through soldering, brazing, welding or other means. The gold must be not less than 10K fineness, and the plating constitutes at lest 1/20th of the weight of the metal in the entire article. Gold filled items, even with daily wear, can last five to 30 years but will eventually wear through. However, gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate. The gold layer on gold-plated jewelry varies greatly depending on manufacturer, so there is no single, simple comparison. Our earwires use 14-karat gold.
Why do your prices vary from necklace to necklace ?
Necklaces are prices according to the rarity of their components, Some pieces are more common than others and this is reflected in the end price.
If i don't like my purchase can I send it back ?
If you are not totally satisfied with your purchase for any reason if you return the item within 7 days of delivery we will refund your money. We can only accept items that have not been worn, used or altered in any way.
We recommend that you return items via registered mail. Please ensure that there is a sufficient postage postage insurance to cover the value of the goods in transit as we cannot accept liability for goods lost or damaged in transit.
Please note that return postage will only be refunded if you have been sent a faulty item, in which case reasonable postage costs will be reimbursed.
How do I care for my necklace, bracelet or ring ?
All our woven jewellery is made from linen thread and does not like to be immersed in water. Please remove necklaces, rings and bracelets in the bath and shower and when washing up. Providing you do this, your jewellery should give you many years of wear.
How do you measure the length of each necklace ?
Each necklaces is measured from the button to the loop as it goes around the neck ie the circumference. It is not the drop of the necklace.
Can you alter the length of my necklace?
All necklaces are designed choker style to fit close to the neck, but they also come with an extra button and loop extension (approx. 10 cms long) to enable the necklaces to be worn at two varying lengths to suit different outfits and different occasions. If you require a longer extension please let us know.
Can you make me a special necklace incorporating my own special momentos ?
